Dorothy and Robert DeBolt have been called America's Number One parents and this country's pioneers in the movement to find
families for children once thought "unadoptable".
They are the parents of twenty children, fourteen of whom were adopted and multi-handicapped. All of the DeBolt's children have been raised to complete self-sufficiency.
In 1973 Dorothy and Robert founded AASK - America (Adopt A Special Kid), this country's first national adoption program for children with special needs.
Among the accolades, honorary degrees, and awards Dorothy and Robert have received are commendations from Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan, and the US Congress.
Millions have seen the Academy Award-winning film, Who are the DeBolts? and read the book, 19 Steps Up the Mountain. A parenting video, Love is Learning to be a Better Parent is also included in their list of nationally acclaimed teaching tools.
The DeBolts have given over 1,000 speeches in the United States and abroad; they have been interviewed on over 1,200 radio & television programs; and their story has been featured in countless national and international publications.
