Dorothy Atwood DeBolt

Dorothy has been described as America's premier parent, and the foremost pioneer in the movement to find families for children once thought unadoptable. She is also recognized as one of America's most inspiring speakers.

Dorothy Atwood DeBolt was born and raised in San Francisco - but her work is world wide. She is an active member of the National Speakers Association, and in 1985 she received its CPAE Award. This award is given annually to a select few individuals who have reached the highest level of professional speaking. Previous winners have included Norman Vincent Peale, and President Ronald Reagan.

Dorothy is the co-founder, with her husband, Robert, of Adopt a Special Kid (AASK - America) this country's first and most successful national adoption program for special needs children. Active in the community, she also serves as a Trustee of the East County Performing Arts Center in San Diego County.

In addition, Dorothy has been named Mother of the Year, by the National Mothers Day committee; one of the "Top Twenty" Women of Achievement, by California's Governor Edmund Brown, Jr.; Mother of the Year, by the March of Dimes; and Woman of the World, by the Children's Village, USA, for her work with abused children.
